"Women’s Development has been a subject of great concern all over the world. The International bodies such as U.N. have taken great pains in focussing attention of the world community on this issue. It has been realised that a nation cannot develop rapidly, if half of its population is backward. Inspite of this bitter truth, women all over the world have not progressed as they should have done. It was partly due to the fact that all decision, making positions are occupied by man, who do not want to share this power with women. While there is a considerable and growing body of literature concerning, the modernisation of women in social and economic development in India, appropriate research methods have yet to be developed to fully encompass the multiple dimensions of women’s productive and reproductive activities as individuals and as members of households. The important volumes are a major step in improving the quality and quantity of date on women. The set provides an overall view on issues and problems related to women development in India.
