ABOUT THE AUTHOR Veena Jain
Dr. Veena jain is working as Senior Lecturer and Head, District resource Unit for Adult and Non-formal Education at District Institute of Education and Training, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi, under the aegis of State Council of Educational research and Training. She is also holding additional charge of Assistant District Co-ordinator, District West, UEE Mission, Delhi under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Programme of Delhi Government. Dr Jain has a brilliant academic career. She possesses Mater’s degree in Psychology and Sanskrit from Delhi University. She also obtained her professional qualification i.e. B.Ed from Delhi University, M.Ed from Himachal University, simla and Ph.D. in Education from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi. As teacher educator she worked in the field of psychology and Education in various capacities fo4r about three decades. Her areas of special interest are Psychology, Child Development Non-formal Education, Population Education, gender Sensitization and Women Empowerment. She has been carrying on research in different fields of adult education and has published many articles namely ‘Hard spots of Journal of Adult Education and ‘Anopcharich Shiksha ka Swarup in Prodh Shiksha (Hindi Journal) published by Indian Adult Education Association, Delhi. Being the editor of different magazines, she has several publication to her credit. Being and educationist and a social worker Dr. Jain has also worked selflessly with missionary zeal for educational upliftment of the poor and down trodden people of District West, Delhi in general and Madipur Constituency (SC) in particular. She carried the literacy campaign in Madipur Constituency launched by Delhi Government during 1995-97. She organized rallies, prabhat pherries, nukkar nataks etc. and mobilized the unemployed youth, retired personnel, educated housewives and teach the illiterate people living in J.J. Clusters. Her interaction with Scheduled Caste Women and unemployed youth stirred her to do something for their upliftment. She mobilized community people to come forward and work for poor and down trodden people who are in need of education & vocational training. On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, 2004, she has been honoured with Dr. S. Radfhakrishnan Memorial National Teachers Award by All India Journalists. Freelance Journalists and Writers Association.
