ABOUT THE AUTHOR Deepali Pant Joshi
Dr. Smt Deepali Pant Joshi holds M.A. an M.Phil. Degrees from the University of Allahabad, Fellow of the Harvard University Asia Center, also holds a Law Degree from University of Lucknow and Management Degree from IGNOU, New Delhi. She joined the Research Bank of India in 1981 as a Middle Management Executive. She has served in various capacities at several centres of the RBI and is presently Chief general Manager of Reserve Bank of India at Hyderabad. She has been actively engaged in policy work in the area of development economics through the last decade. She was a member of the Planning Commission, Xth Plan Working Group on Poverty and has served on several High Level Committees and Commissions. She has lectured extensively on Rural Development and banking at several Research/Management Institutions/Universities both in India and abroad and was invited to address the Asia Society at New York. She has travelled extensively in South East and Participated in an International Monetary Fund. She has assisted in interactions with several Parliamentary Standing Committees on Agricultural and Rural Development. She has contributed several article on poverty/gender issues and microfinance, which have been published in journals both in India and abroad. She has written for the Economic and Political Weekly, Yojana, Prajnan, Indian Journal of Agricultural Economics Review and the Financial Express. Dr. Smt. Joshi is married to Shri Rajeev Joshi, who is a Management Consultant. They have two sons Paritosh (19) and Kunal (14). They live at Hyderabad.
