Kadampa school as a strong spiritual movement with its monastic base in Tibet is little known. Historians and Scholars of Tibetan Buddhism attribute this as a missing link in the cultural history of Tibet. The significance of the present work lies in researching and providing this vital missing link. This work marks the period prior to the emergence of different Tibetan Buddhist religious traditions. The work is full of historical significance and a source of facts and findings about later diffusion of Buddhism in Tibet.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Meenakshi Rai
Born in Paro Valley in Bhutan, Meenakshi Rai received her early education in Thimphu, Bhutan. She pursued her further studies at the University of Delhi obtaining B.A. honours in Philosophy, Master's degree and Doctorate in Buddhist Studies. She served as a Research Officer in the Department of Culture, Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan for about three years. She harbours a keen desire to undertake such studies in Buddhism as the theme of her future research work.
