This is the first such dictionary in English and is based on the "The Great Volume of Precise Understanding"(Mahavyutpatti)-the first Sanskrit dictionary commissioned by King Tri Ralpachen in the 9th century, supplemented from the works of various Tibetan lamas.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Tsepak Rigzin
Tsepak Rigzin is currently the rector of the Central School for Tibetan in Shimla. During 1980-1992, he led the Research and Translation Bureau staff at the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. He has contributed to the English translationso f A Necklace of Good Fortune by Geshe Lamrim, Advice from BuddhaShakyamuni Concerning a Monk's Discipline, Opening the Mind and Generating a Good Heart by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His major accomplishment has been the compilation of The Tibetan English Dictionary of Buddhist Terminology.
