Communication constitute the crucial strategy for educating people to change their knowledge, attitude and behaviour for acceptance of any innovation. In the field of Health and Population, Communication has been universally adopted in IEC programmes for expeditiously promoting these programmes. In fact world bank aided most of the programmes all over the world, adopted effective communication strategies to promote family planning. In this context the present book is based on such World Bank aided population education programme implemented in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Out of this education programme, communication constitute the core area of IEC programme, which has been extensively and holistically highlighted in this book. ABOUT THE AUTHOR K.N. Kondala Rao
Dr. K.N. Kondala Rao (b. 1931) has worked in different fields both relating to health family welfare and STD, HIV/AIDS. He did his Ph.D. under Dr. K. Mahadevan renowned Prof. of Population Studies, S.V. University, Tirupati. Worked with Faculty in medico social work, Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam, Social Science Instructor, RHFWTC, Visakhapatnam, District Mass Education Media Officer, State Mass Education Media Officer, Govt. of A.P., Hyderabad, Deputy Director-IEC, IPP-II, World Bank, Technical Consultant for the preparation of A.P School Health Project, A.P. (UK). After retirement in 1990 he worked as Project Director, Evaluation of Primary Health Care Delivery Systems, Visakhapatnam, Mahila Vikasa Samstha AIDs Education and Prevention Project of A.P., AIDS Control Project of World Bank and now working as Project Director of Mahila Vikasa Samstha, PSH Project from 1999 of DFID (UK) under the guidance of NACO and APSACS, Hyderabad. He was President of Society for Prevention of AIDS and Allied Diseases (SPAAD), Visakhapatnam. He was member of institutional ethics committee, Andhra Medial College, State Level Steering Committee of APSACS, Hyderabad and City Development Strategy of Visakhapatnam on health. He has contributed many articles on health education and mass communication in various national and international journals and books, participated in various workshops, seminars, conventions in India and Abroad.
