ABOUT THE AUTHOR Kodiveri Muniyappa Palaniswamy
K.M. Palaniswamy, PhD, taught statistical methods, design of experiments, agricultural statistics, sampling techniques, quality control, and biostatistics at both undergraduate and graduate levels for thirty years, as well as serving as faculty and Head of the department of Physical Sciences at Tamil Nadu Agricultural university, India, for over twenty-five years. He has extensive consultancy experience in applied statistics, including appointments as UN expert in Agricultural Statistics, Baghdad, and UN Consultant in Agricultural Statistics at Makerere articles. He held the position of research Scholar at the International Rice research Institute in the Philippines and earned his MS (experimental statistics) degree at the University of the Philippines. He was also Senior Biostatistician and Head of the Epidemiology Division at the regional Cancer research Institute and Hospital in madras, India, in the Cancer registry Scheme of the Indian Council of Medical research, New Delhi.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Usha Rani Palaniswamy
Usha Rani Palaniswamy, PhD, holds a joint appointment in the School of Allied Health and the Asian American Studies Institute. Her major publications include over forty peer-reviewed journal articles, several book chapters, the monthly newsletter Purslane, and the book A Guide to medical Plants of Asian Origin and Culture. She is the lead Editor of Acta Horticultura: Tra-Award for teaching Innovation from the American Association of University Professors and an official citation from the State of Connecticut general assembly for her innovation in teaching. Dr. Palaniswamy’s current research focuses on Asian traditional medical systems, Asian medicinal plants, human issues in horticulture, the design of health education programs for ethnic minority groups, and phytochemicals that promote human health and prevent diseases.
