This book deals with most burning issue of modernization and women’s development. The process of modernization refers to the total transformation of economic, social and political institutions. Dr. (Mrs) Kamlesh Mahajan Ph.D., D. Litt. in Sociology, is teaching in the Department of Sociology, Ismail National Mahila Post-graduate College, CCS University, Meerut for the last twenty six years. She has contributed numerous papers in various journals of national repute besides writing many textbooks for graduate and post-graduate students of Indian Universities. She is the Managing Editor of an International and inter-disciplinary bi-annual research Journal, the Journal of National Development. Her areas of special interest are: Sociology of Mass Communication and Women's Studies.
