Rapid advances in computer technology have made it imperative to understand the hardware feature of computers besides knowing how to program them in a high level language. A Student Must understand how a computer functions in addition to knowing how to program it. The main objective of this book is to explain to a beginner how a computer works. The present publication is designed to meet the needs of beginners as well as advanced learners who wish to deal computers. Besides its use as a text, this handbook would also provide managers, engineers and scientists a basic introduction to the hardware and software of computers and to select appropriate applications and hardware. A Knowledge of computers is not a prerequisite to follow the contents of the book. It assumes no background in computers or computer programming. Starting with an introductory chapter, the book goes on to cover all facets of digital computers. It uses the simple-to-complex and easy-to-learn approach throughout. Special attention has been paid to remove unwanted detains and to make the material comprehensive, concise and practicable.
