ABOUT THE AUTHOR Abhilash Mallya

Abhilash Mallya, a seasoned tourism personnel holds a masters' degree in tourism administration. He has been associated with a wide spectrum of tourism related activities for the last ten years, in various capacities, both in the industry and in the academics. His main contributions to the field of ecotourism include organising capacity building workshops and training courses for the local authorities of various concerned departments, communities and organisations, extending professional support to the government for promotion of ecotourism, supervising research works on ecotourism related topics, and preparing ecotourism management plans for protected areas. In addition to the regular academic assignments, he takes up consultancy projects as well. He has published a good number of innovative research papers in the key and thrust areas of tourism. He has also attended national and international seminars and also underwent many value added training and orientation programmes in the core areas of tourism.
