In the Buddhist Dhammapada and Abhidhamma Sangraha and the Bhagavadgita mind is given a very important place. Both Buddhism and Hinduism, in their pristine form, are basically compassionate and meditational religions. The Bhagavadgita talks of a "Sthitadhir" or "Sthitaprajana" who is a wise person with a settled intellect and knowledge and focuses on "Moksa" or liberation. Similarly, Buddhism talks of "Nirvana" through the development of mind and pure consciousness. The book addresses the question of how the mind works in relation to different types of consciousness and personality in achieving "Nirvana" or "Moksa".
