"Women in India, while constituting half the population of the country, are very poorly represented in the various policy and decision-making bodies which so vitally influence their lives. The women’s movement has always considered that increasing the involvement and participation of women in politics is a critical factor in bringing gender issues on to the political agenda of the country. This volume contains papers presented at the round tables organised by various women’s research and development organisations. These papers document and analyse the experience of women in politics."
