The art of Cave excavations in the Ajanta Caves reaches its highest point. Ajanta paintings have been highly esteemed and revered by the reknowned scholars and art critics of the world. They formed the work so accomplished in execution, so consistent in convention, so vivacious and varied in design, and full of such evident delight in beautiful form and colour, that they could not help ranking it with some of early art which the world has agreed to praise in Italy.
