The Sculptural Art of Andhra is a fascinating study. It is this particular phase of Indian art which exhibits a splendid and meaningful fusion of north and south Indian art traditions. It has not only imbibed notable qualities of the Classical art of the Gupta age, but also has modified and transmitted them to the Pallavas of Tamil Nadu and the Chalukyas of Badami. The present book is the first publication of its kind which deals with a complete evolution of the sculptures art of Andhra, right from 2nd century B.C. to the decline of the Vijayanagara empire in its true perspective.
