Visnu Purana is another extant Purana. The work commences with the date and the place of the comdilation of the Visnu Purana. This is followed by a thorough discussion of the social life prevailing at that time. Economic life is discussed in detail including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Labour, Professions, Transport, Coinage, Trade, Flora and Fauna. The work concludes with the study of Religious life of the time in its various aspect. In the Appendix, list of rivers, mountains, tribes, towns and countries of Bharata Varsa as found in the Visnu Purana are given. The importance of this work by a veteran scholar is further enhanced by the addition of Photographs and line drawing.
