The book presents a beautiful study of the two important contemporary women novelists of India, viz. Anita Desai and Kamala Markandaya. The author has concentrated only on four novels of each so as to be able to present an intensive, indepth study of the pattern of conjugal and fillial relationships delineated by the novelists. Her analysis in perceptive and her language expressive and effective.
