The Central Indian region, in general, and Precambrian (shield) domains, in particular, are well known for the greatest manifestations of geological vicissitudes and economic geological propensity in the Indian Subcontinent. For various reasons, however, published works on their various aspects have yet to match the depth and substance of the available published literature on the Precambrians of the other regions, notably of southern and eastern and eastern shield of the subcontinent. This Volume marks a step forward to rectify this notable contrast of Precambrian Geology of India, in a limited manner. The Volume incorporates 20 selected research papers from the Proceedings of the National Seminar on "Precambrian Geology and Mineral Wealth of Central India" which was held at Govt. College of Science, Jabalpur (M.P.) to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Department and 150 years of the Institution's dedicated service to the nation in many different ways. The papers cover various aspects of geology, mineragraphy, petrology, tectonics and metamorphism, geochemistry, mineral deposits and metallogeny, concept oriented prognosis, exploration and exploitation of mineral resources including those of hydrocarbons. A special contribution from Vadim Kazansky dealing with the deep crustal structure and metallogeny of the Pechenga Ore District of Kola Peninsula, Russia, is also included in the Volume.
