This laboratory Manual in Biochemistry and Biotechnology has been written to provide a source book of technical information on a number of experiments routinely performed by the Biology, Biotechnology and Agriculture graduate and post graduate students in practical classes. The manual would be useful not only for students but also for teachers and researchers as a handy and easy to understand experimental details for 76 experiments in total. The manual has been divided into six chapters-Carbohydrates, Lipids, Proteins and Amino Acids, Enzymes, Nucleic nutritional factors. Each chapter has been introduced in brief to provide required information related with the experiments covered. Important information related with the experiments covered. Important information related with the experiment has been provided at the end of each experiment as ‘Notes’. Enough care has been taken to include each and every detail of the experiments which can be used as such without any modification. A total of 33 experiments have been included under the head Nucleic Acids which cover from isolation and estimation of nucleic acids to gene cloning and library preparation. These experiments will cover practical syllabus of most of Biotechnology courses offered at under graduate and post graduate level. The remaining 43 experiments represent most of basic laboratory exercises of Biochemistry courses offered at under-graduate level.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Neelam Yadav
A scholar and an academic in her own right, Neelam Yadav passed her M.Sc. from Kanpur University and is currently working on research project related to women’s role in spread of education in India. She is totally devoted to her academic pursuits these days. She has participated in several seminars and symposia and has three books, all on education to her credit. Her last book ‘Education for Women’ was very well received in the market.

Dr. Neelam Yadav is presently working as Associate Professor in Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner. She joined this university as Assistant professor (Plant Physiology) in 1991 and was selected as Associate professor in 1996 just within four and half years. She did her Ph.D. from Indian Agricultural research Institute, New Delhi. She has visited Germany to present a research paprr in 3rd International Crop science Congress at Hamburg in Ausust 17-22, 2000 & in 2001 International Collaborative research center laboratories, Ishiqaki, Japan. She has taken training on use of mass-spec in protein sequencing and identification in laboratory of dr. Michael Kinter, department of cell Biology, Learner research Institute, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. She has more than 25 research papers published in journals of national and international repute. She is life member of Society of Plant Pysiology, India and The Arid Zone research association of India.
