Nep-Romantics is to be treated as a literary movement. It was revival of the Romantic tendencies with a difference during the late Thirties and Forties represented by Dylan Thomas, david Gascoyne, george Barker and some minor poets like Vernon Watkins, Henry Treece, W.R. Rodgers and W.S. Graham. The Movement expressed a reaction against the literary trend set by .S. Eliot and the Auden group and was a product of various social, political, intellectual and literary forces. The poets in this movement has a definite conception of art, made a deliberate departure from the earlier trend and tendencies and adapted the original Romantic conceptions in the light of modern thought, psychology and science. The present book examines the Neo-Romantic movement in the perspective of modern thought. Our aim is to be define and discuss the nature of this movement and to show how the new factors of contemporary reality have been used in creating a new kind of contemporary poetry which is founded on the fundamental assumptions of Romanticism of the early nineteenth century, Yet is still original and different from the poetry of that age.
