The encyclopaedic study if eminent women is very significant in the annals of our history. Their role has been high –lighted in a way which made their names most prominent. In fact they were mainly guided by the Gandhian philosophy and thought and thus did not lag behind in any sense. The names of Sarojini Naidu, Auna Asaf Ali, Kasturba Gandhi, Kamala Nehru, Vijayalaksmi Pandit, Kamaladevi Chattopadhyaya, Indira Gandhi and others have been highlighted. Their mode of picketing was non-violent and peaceful and did not show any kind of violence in their style of picketing. In fact Gandhiji knew that the cooperation of women in the long-drawn political struggle was most essential. He also sought the cooperation of students, peasants and labourers. Working shoulder to shoulder, the women’s role indeed was the most significant.
