Semi’otics in Bi’lingualism is a pioneering endeavour of the research (as a stylistic approach to the novel, ‘AI LARKI’ with ‘O GIRL!’) conducted by the author in his partial fulfillment of the requirement for awarding the Degree of Master of Philosophy in the teaching of English from the Department of English and Modern European Languages, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, with a view to discover a new approach in the Linguistics of Hindi and English language. In this work, the novel gives an episode of a dialogue conversation in a family among an old woman, her daughter and her maid. The maid attends on them, especially on mother and assists them in domestic chores. The mother is stubborn and pragmatic–yet sensitive. The novel reveals the psychology of an Indian woman who in her old age is deeply worried about the marriage of her daughter. She feels she is approaching death while her daughter still remains unmarried…..It posed problems in translating the entire novel, ‘AI LARKI’- (‘O GIRL!’) into English at different levels– phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic and cultural concepts. The novel ‘O GIRL!’ has been written by the Sahitya Akademi Award winner-Krishna Sobti (She won this award on her novel written in Hindi language–Zindaginama in the year 1980)…..Thus, this research work is expected to create an interest particularly to the students, scholars, teacher-trainers and teachers of English, applied linguistics and various Modern Indian Languages, their course designers, material producers, teacher-training institutes and various institutes of English and "Modern Indian Languages and Literature’. This research work is one of the most popular Indian languages (likely to be the national language) available to the speakers of these languages in India and abroad. It can bring various languages and the speakers of these languages closer to each other through this effort of translation and achieve the prime goal of intellectual and emotional integration of the nation.
