This volume is a tribute to the late Dr. Zakir Husain, former Shaikhul Jamia, (1926-48), Amir-I-Jamia (1963-69) and the President of India (9.5.1967-3.5.1969). Jamia Archives was entrusted with the responsibility of preserving the documentary heritage related to Dr. Zakir Husain that had been in the custody of Jamia Millia Islamia. The collection consists of speeches given by Dr. Zakir Husain, his personal and official correspondence, medical records, school and college certificates, personal diaries and press clippings. The collection has documents in English, Hindi, Urdu, Persian and German languages. Through this volume, we have endeavoured to lit all these documents in a chronological sequence.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR S.M. Azizuddhin Husain

Azizuddin Husain, is Professor of History at the Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His works includes Kalimat-I-Taiyibat, a collection of Aurangzebâ€™s orders (1982), Kalimat-I-Aurangzeb (1983), Tazkiratul Umara of Kewal Ram (1985), Raqaim-I-Karaim, a collection of Aurangzebâ€™s epistles (1990) and Medieval Towns â€“ A Case study of Amroha and Jalali (1995). Presently he is working on two research projects â€“ â€˜Mir Saiyid Ali Hamadani â€“ His Life and Worksâ€™, and the Introduction and Development of Unani Mediciine in India during the Medieval Period.
