An attempt has been made to analyse the story of many India’s which co-exist within One Indian State and they also participate in democratic-electoral process at the national, regional and local levels from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Further, the analytical exercise undertaken in this volume tries to link the external and internal dimensions of the Indian state and democratic political process because dialectics of a society cannot be analyzed and explained by isolating it from other societies around the world. The Grand transition of India and its social dialectics have been explained by linking the negative and the positive developments of the last sixty years i.e. from Jawaharlal Nehru to Sonia Gandhi phase of politics.
