Women and Society

Social contexts are typically different from other areas. Interestingly, whatever is prevalent in the world of imagery, is not applicable to the real world of society. The harsh truth is that Indian Society has not recognised the woman as its bona fide member. She is still a second grade citizen, inferior to man. Women’s social empowerment has been an area of serious debate and concern for several decades. As far as India is concerned, social empowerment of women and their education are being wrangled by many a social taboo. In fact, in a male dominated society, the women folk are kept at second fiddle only.  This work, Women and Society, is an effort, in order to fill the gap for a comprehensive and exhaustive book on the subject.
