Essays in Ecocriticism is the first ever anthology of its kind in India. The contributors to this volume, however, are scholars not only from India but also from other countries – Japan, China, Australia and the USA. Essays in Ecotourism signposts the recent critical avenues explored by Indian and international scholars in eco-criticism. Broadly defined, eco-criticism could embrace within its ambit, ecological criticism of such disciplines as media, linguistics, philosophy, theology, economics and others. Essays in Ecocriticism clearly indicates that the field is rapidly growing in India and bridging the hitherto irreconcilable camps of arts and sciences. About Ecoliterature, the course at Madras Christian College (MCC), Chennai: "As the first Indian institution of higher learning to initiate a program in Ecoliterature, and with its unique approach to oikopoetics, I believe that MCC is in the forefront of develop-ments in literary studies".
