The book ‘Gender and Conflict Transformation : Nagaland and Egypt’ looks at the dynamics between the state authorities and revivalists in two contrasting contexts–Egypt and Nagaland and the efforts made by the women in the respective locations. The dynamics shared between the state authorities and the revivalists in the two contexts, have created a milieu within which women have had to bear the brunt of the widespread repercussions. Despite all odds, women in both the contexts have risen above diverse obstacles to campaign for women’s rights and flight for the cause of women. They have initiated steps towards fostering an environment of understanding, security and support for the women in their respective communities, in spite of being caught in the complex vortex of the social imbroglio.
