The first edition had 514 pages and 23 chapters whereas the currents edition runs into 840, plus pages and 26 chapters. Considered to be bible for library classification by students and teachers of library and information science in Indian subcontinent, this book certainly presents the most comprehensive coverage of the subject. The book carries a foreword by Late Dr. S.R. Ranganathan whose view for this book was ‘The present book gives a comprehensive account of the organization and administration of a library.
