‘Democracy without women is not a democracy’. One of the aspects of ‘democracy with women’ is ensuring women’s participation in the decision making institutions of a democratic polity. Balanced representation of women and men at all stages of decision making process guarantees better governance. Parliament is one of the formal and important political institutions. In all Parliaments of Bangladesh (except the fourth and the sixth), women MPs worked with their male counterparts. What experiences have they gathered about Parliamentary practices and procedures? How for have they been able to raise the female issues in the Parliaments? What role did they play in the law making process? How do they evaluate the performances of their male counterparts? How do they rate their own performances? This book is based on a study which was conducted to seek the answers of these and many to other related questions. The study was conducted on the women MPs of the Fifth and the Seventh Parliaments of Bangladesh.
