The Encyclopaedic Index of the Quran is intended to make the Holy Book approachable to the reader. In this meticulous and painstaking effort, the author has attempted to put together verses in the Quran dealing with one subject together in one place in a particular sequence. By listing similar themes and ideas which are otherwise spread across different parts in the Quran under headings arranged alphabetically, it seeks to make the Quran comprehensible to the beginner. At the same time, for anyone willing to refer to a specific theme in the Quran, this work will serve as an invaluable guide. It is hoped that scholars too will finds this an indispensable work of reference. The Glorious Quran, is not like an ordinary book where one comes across subjects arranged in a particular order or sequence. Normally in such books, subjects are introduced, analyzed, discussed and then commands or directions are issued, if necessary. If there are stories of prophets, history of kings or noblemen or of nations which have gone in the part, these, normally, would be discussed detail in a chapter and then only another subject would be taken up for discussion. Similarly if there is mention of punishment for evil deeds or reward for noble acts, normally both evil and noble deeds would be defined and the consequences then explained. It is a Book which is unique in its presentation and cannot be compared to any other existing book written by men. This is the Book of Allah and is the Word of Allah as revealed to His noble prophet , throughout the period of his prophecy extending over a period of twenty three years. The style of this Book is one of oration and not of diction. It is a lecture, an instruction, an admonition, a call to right course and conduct. Its pure and clear Arabic in which it was revealed was so bewitching and enchanting to the Arabs that the disbelievers and the rejecters being afraid of its impact, advised their people not to listen to this sermon and to make weird noises whenever it was to be recited.
