The book comprises selected papers presented to the Islamics Economics Seminar jointly sponsored by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (Washington) and Economics Discipline council USA. These studies make significant contribution to the ongoing effort to incorporate Islamic Values in selected areas of economic theory such as the theory of consumer behaviour, and attempt to fashion alternative economic models. The authors have shown a brilliant grasp of relevant Islamic Values and have used in an ingenious way the existing stock of knowledge to their benefit. Questions relating to methodology of Islamic economics have also been dealt with in some studies. All these studies represent an enterprise, undertaken by competent young muslim economists to demonstrate the theoretical viability of Islamic economics and its potential superiority to tackle economic issues in a future socio-economic setup. By the same endeavour the path along which further endeavour should proceed has been delineated.
