Veer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a great leader, was a political thinker, freedom fighter and a staunch Hinduist. He never hesitated in expressing clearly what he thought sincerely. He started dreaming of a free India right from the early days of his student life. Though he went to Great Britain for higher education, his strong desire o see India free brought him to contact with the revolutionaries. He was arrested for his revolutionary activities and brought to India as a prisoner. On the way to India, he jumped into the sea from the desk of his ship, which shows his indomitable will and abiding love for his country. He was awarded a severe punishment in India, and deported to Andaman & Nicobar Islands, but the hellish tortures of the Andaman (cellular jail) could not deviate him from his objective. India attained freedom but it was partitioned. So Veer Savarkar considere it an incomplete freedom, and continued to dream of a united India till the last days of his life. His burning love for his country will continue to inspire Indians for a long time to come.
