Some intellectuals and activists are of the view that the term ‘Dalit’ is hostile to the ex-Untouchables of today and this term has no ontological abilities and hermeneutic capacities of its own to help the ex-Untouchables in their total emancipation. Thus, the category Dalit faces violent rejection both from the Dalits and from the non-Dalits.
