Mahatma Gandhi observed that India lives in Rural Areas. If you want to improve the whole part of India your attention must simply goes to rural oriented plans. This book made an attempt to analyse the real position of rural India in nowadays and also through lights the detailed structure of the rural society and hence also focuses the rural-urban divide, various policies and programmes of rural development like health care, programmes, self-employment programmes, practices and methods of rural marketing and rural energy and other related rural energy issue and so on. Of late India has witnessed rapid changes in the countryside and rural areas. With the onset of IT revolution, the mobile penetration, cable TV penetration etc. has helped to bring greater changes in hitherto idyllic unspoilt countryside. Forces of marketing and consumerism are also operating and one can find all kinds of goods and services available in small Mofussil towns as well. This book explores the changing face of rural India. ABOUT THE AUTHOR A. Mohamed Abdullah
Dr. A. Mohamed Abdullah, M.A., M.Phil., M.B.A., Ph.D., working as a lecturer in management studies, R.D.B. Institute of Management (RIM), R.D.B. College of Arts and Science, Papanasam, Tanjavur dt. Tamilnadu. His PG degree was secured in Economics from Bharathidasan University and an M. Phil. in Economics from St. Joseph's College, Thiruchirappalli. He has done Ph.D. in Economics at Bharathidasan University and also he has earned M.B.A., from the same university. Previously, he served a Guest Faculty at the Centre for Women studies, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu. He published a few articles in reputed journals and edited books.

Dr. S. Asiathambi has been working as a Lecturer in Economics, Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College, Tiruchirappalli. He got his M.A., M.B.A., degrees from Madurai Kamaraj University, B.Ed., from Madras University, M.Phil. (Eco.), M.Phil. (Mgt.) and Ph.D. (Eco.) from Bharathidasan University. He has 10 years of teaching experience. He is associated with number of professional bodies. He authored one book and presented many papers in the national and international seminars. He is a resource person for M.B.A., B.B.A., B.Com. and B.A. courses in Bharathidasan University.
