Staff management is important as mostly half of the library’s budget is spent on staff salaries. So it is important to analyse and evaluate existing jobs and staffing structure and modify them in relation to changing needs such as automation, taking account of the balance between supply and demand for library and information workers. It is vital to have a well thought-out recruitment strategy using staff who are skilled in drawing up personnel specifications and following them through interviewing and other selection methods. Some pertinent issues are elaborately discussed in this book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.K. Paliwal
Dr. P.K. Paliwal received his Ph.D. degree from the East West University of Health Sciences in 1979. Presently, he is on the faculty of the Documentation Research Centre, where he is involved in teaching computer proframming, library automation, information retrieval and design development, database management systems and applied statistics. He has also conduceted several short term courses in India and abroad, some of them sponsor by UNESCO. Besides having published more than fifty reset papters, he has authored two books.
