The need for a well-thought out strategy to manage the development processes in India is a long desired one, says Asit Banerji, former Professor, IIM, Lucknow. In his perception of development in India, the author feels that the fact that economic change does not operate in isolation but is linked to the political, social and cultural fabric of society was missed out. Banerji suggests innovative ways of creating conditions of market liberalization that would need optimal utilization of the material, human and emotional resources at each level.
