Corporate intervention in agriculture through contract farming is seen as an essential link between corporate business and the farmer. The role of the corporate sector has increased considerably in almost all spheres of economic activity, including the agricultural sector. ABOUT THE AUTHOR M.G. Deepika

Deepika M G holds a PhD in Economics from the Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore through the University of Bangalore. She has published articles relating to international trade, WTO, export competitiveness, EXIM Policy and urban planning in journals, edited volumes and newspapers, and participated in seminars and conferences relating to international trade and WTO. She has also worked as a Research Associate at the Centre for Management in Agriculture at IIM Ahmedabad. She is currently working as Faculty in Economics at the ICFAI Business School, Ahmedabad.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR S. Rajagopalan

S Rajagopalan holds an MBA in Finance from Gujarat University. He has worked for five years in the development sector in the area of microfinance and livelihood promotion for the poor, both with non-governmental organizations and the government. Prior to his stint in the development sector, he had worked in the area of corporate financial analysis and research for a research organization for five years. Currently, he is a Consulting Editor at The ICFAI Business School, Ahmedabad.
