Alice (Malsenior) Walker (9 Feb. 1944 -) is a highly regarded contemporary novelist, presently occupying a singularly unique position in African American literature. Critical work continues to appear on her writings implying that the meanings and implications of her works are almost inexhaustible. In comparison to the existing critical corpus, this book discusses and analyses Walker’s fiction on an entirely different plane in its deeper thematic – symbolic levels.
