The present book is an attempt to understand environmentalism in India in the era of globalization. Following an interdisciplinary approach, it interprets environmentalism in the light of the large social, economic and political issues relevant in the context of India's bid to integrate into the global economy. Logically, this approach leads to a brief discussion of the discourse and practice of alternatives to the mainstream political and development processes.
