"Half a Flight'' is the story of Crown Prince Dara Shukoh (1615-59), the eldest son of Emperor Shah Jahan, in the words of Nuruddin who is shown in the present work, in which most of the characters and events portrayed are real, to have been called by the emperor from his home at Banaras to attend upon the ailing young prince.
