Vol. 1: One of the most interesting epochs in the History of the Himalayan countries is the emergence of Bhutan. – from a theocracy to a secular state-from a maintenance administration to a planning and development economy its ancient and esoteric learning its exuberant flora history and culture of Bhutan in two volumes of this book Namely (1) Ancient Bhutan and (2) Medieval and Modern Bhutan. Each of which again deals with the religious social material & political aspects of Bhutanese culture in their respective periods. The text book on other disciplines, like economics political science, sociology however invariably tru to define the nature and scope of their subject at the very outset. We have reserved our discussion on the definition of History to the end of this volume when we can look back and take a full view of the ideas and events narrated can easily travel from the events to the ideas. It is infinitely convenient to pass from the particular to the General and it is always easier to grasp the concept of History from the concrete date of its facts and events.
