Born in the year 1962 Bharati Nayak grew up in Cuttack and graduated from the Ravenshaw College, Cuttack, Odisha. She has done her Masters degree in Political Science from Utkal University, Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar. She is a bilingual writer, poet, critique and translator. She writes in English and Odia. Writing fascinated her from a very young age. She used to contribute regularly to school magazines. Her poetry has since come of age and has been published in numerous magazines, anthologies, e-books, journals and newspapers of national and international repute. She is a regular writer at online poetry Site www. poemhunter.com and part of many international poetry groups such as Creation and Criticism, Poets unite worldwide and the like.

Bharati Nayak has published two poetry books:

1. Padma Paada (A book of devotional poems in Odia language)

2. Words Are Such Perfect Traitors(A collection of English poems)

Her Odia poems have been published in Utkal Prasang, Katha Katha Kavita Kavita, Godhuli, Barna Bitana, Srujanira Pahacha, Sweta Sanketa, Kavyaloka, Arpita, Pratikhya, Asha Srotaswini, Chhai, Pravasi Abhijan, Kavyaloka and newspapers like Samaya and Anupam Bharat, etc.
