The book attempts to analyse the various provisions of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and examines their working in actual practice. It also examines the implications of and the need for several new provisions (e.g. those relating to labour standards, environment problems, investments agreement, competition policies, government procurement, information technology, electronic commerce etc.) proposed to be included in the WTO. It particularly studies as to how far the provisions of the WTO are consistent with the requirements of the developing countries and what modifications are required to make them suitable for the developing countries. The provisions and working of the WTO have been examined with a detached and scientific outlook. The analysis is penetrating and illuminative. Appendix-V contains viewpoints of important countries, international organisations and regional organisations on the provisions and working of the WTO.
