The book entitled “Achievement of Visually handicapped†by Dr. Anjul Sharma is an important and good contributation in the field of Special Education especially when there is paucity of information database on the subject mentioned. This book is an outcome of several years of painstaking research work done by the author on visually impaired subject. This study is modest effort by the author on visually impaired studying in Integrated an exclusive setting with regard to their academic achievement and level of aspiration matched on age, sex, level of education, intelligence. Socio-economic statuses are taken as control variables. This book is divided in to five chapters and adopts a holistic perspective approach to provide a comprehensive picture to achievement of visually impaired. Findings of this research are helpful in planning and implementation of rehabilitation strategies for visually impaired people.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anjul Sharma
Dr. Anjul Sharma obtained her Master’s Degree in Zoology from Agra University; M.Phil in Education (Visual Impairment) from A.M.U. Aligarh and Ph.D. in Education (Visual Impairment) from J.M.I. New Delhi. She started her career as a project fellow in N.C.E.R.T in Dept of Education of Groups with special Needs (DESGN) and Dept of Teacher Education. She worked as a Project Officer in an NGO working for the education and Rehabilitation of Disabled Children. Before joining S.C.E.R.T. She was working in Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), during her tenure of two years in RCI she was also associated with the course of B.E.d (Special Education from Curriculum formulated to Implementation of the course. Presently she is working in the SCERT, N.D., as a Lecturer and posted at DIET, South West, Ghumanhera, Najafgarh, N.Delhi. Her research interests are Special Education and Educational Technology. She has been involved in the teachers training programme, development of Teaching Learning Materials and research activities.
