Time and again books in the genre of Who’s Whos, newspaper columns, magazine articles, briefs and biographies are published on personalities from the world over by various publishers around the globe but sadly ignoring people from Africa and more so from the Arab world except for occasioned mention in books and write-ups. Sheer apathy and lack of the desired level of interest in such nations by the publishers and writers appear to be the reasons behind such monumental neglect of a whole race of people from being counted among the world’s achievers. To set things rights and put such issues in the correct perspective, we decided to come out with the ‘Admirable Arab Achievers’-a biographical book on leading personalities and other performers from the Arab comity. It has been a rather daunting task for a variety of reasons not the least because for one this initial venture is the first of its kind. Secondly, gathering and collecting the data has been a difficult chore indeed due to paucity of readily available information as also those researched and collected from various other sources. We had, in fact, sent invitations to a wide cross-section of leading personalities of the Arab World including heads of state, politicians bureaucrats, businessmen and others to participate in this venture. The response was indeed hearterning but some well-known people sadly have had to be left out of the final compilation as we received no replies from their end in spite of our best efforts to include them in this maiden volume. The painstaking work over the last year has now paid off with the successful launch of our latest offering. In other words, we are proud to present today to our readers the very first edition of the ‘Admirable Arab Achievers’.
