This book attempts to address the major issues concerning agrarian crisis in India which led farmers to suicide in a big way. Taking a close look at the status of agriculture in the country, with special reference to Andhra Pradesh, it assesses trends in farmers’ suicide phenomena and analyses the factors that led them to suicide and its impact on socio-economic, psychological and moral aspects of affected households.
It also examines the government-sponsored measures to tackle this problem and suggests some alternative policy measures to find a lasting solution to the agrarian crisis and its resultant suicides of farmers.
