ABOUT THE AUTHOR A.G. Powar

Ashok Ganpat Powar (b. 1950), acquired his Ph.D. in Farm Power and Machinery from Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli during 1997. He is meritorious throughout his career. He served for Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli for about 32 years in different capacities and is working as Dean, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Dapoli. He has five books on his name, which are most popular among the students for improving their career. He has been instrumental in the establishment and development of College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology, Dapoli in a period of four years to be one of the leading colleges in the field of agricultural Engineering in India. His dedication for the college and for the students’ cause is worth emulating by others. He has been honoured with several State and National level awards such as Hari Malani Joshi Award for design of tools and implements from Maratha Chambers of Commerce, Mumbai; Guruvarya Award for Best Principal of the College from Desai Trust, Ratnagiri; Aspee Award for Design and Commendation Medal for research in the field of Farm Machinery from ISAE and many others, for his dedicated works and lifetime achievements in this field. He has the outstanding contribution in the research through his research papers in the Conferences and Journals of national and international level. The author has the great hopes from the academicians, researchers, professionals and students to refer this book to cope up with their thirst of knowledge.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR R.T. Thokal

Rajesh Tulshiram Thokal (b. 1966), earned his bachelor degree in Agricultural Engineering from Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, Maharashtra and Masters degree with specialization in Irrigation & Drainage Engineering from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar, Uttaranchal in 1991. He has acquired proficiency in the subject of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering through his experience in teaching, research and extension activities and has distinguished academic career of about 13 years by serving in various capacities in the private companies, research institutes and Agricultural Universities. He worked as Assistant Professor for about seven years in College of Agricultural Engineering, Raichur, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. Presently he is working as Associate Professor in Department of Irrigation & Drainage Engineering, College of Agricultural Engineering, Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri of Maharashtra. He is the recipient of the award by Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, Bangalore during 1999 for his students’ research project on “Hydraulics of Trickle Irrigation”. He has authored more than 25 research papers in the national and international journals and few of them were highly appreciated at the international level. His earlier publication “Maintenance of Trickle Irrigation” in Kannada language has gained a lot of popularity.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR U.S. Kadam

Dr. U.S. Kadam, Head, Department of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Dr. BS Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli, Maharashtra; has carried out lot of experiments and has vast experience in micro-irrigation, drainage technology and protective cultivation and has been special invitee member on the Committee for Task Force on Micro-irrigation appointed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. He has authored a book on banana cultivation and has over fifty research papers to his credit. Dr. Kadam has widely travelled abroad especially to USA, UK and Israel for academic purposes.
