The work is a distinguished contribution to the literature of growth and development. It seeks to synchronise the micro and macro approaches towards understanding the development process in agricultural and non-agricultural sectors of the economy. The inter-relationship and interaction among different sectors have been highlighted in individual as well as aggregate perspectives, through inter-sectoral linkages, inter-industry dependence, international trade and environmental sustenance and balance. As the Author avers the Balance between agriculture and industry has to be global and equitable in its operations but also within the national boundaries. Development must outgrow the short-term perspectives and personal and group selfish interests to cover the broader field and harmonise the personal and the social interests. It must deal with the quality of life rather than merely with material goods and needs. These and a host of other intricate and intriguing issues have been thoroughly and authoritatively dealt within this commendable exploring work.
