ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dayananda Pathak

Dr. Dayanada Pathak (bron 1-2-1951) was educated at Gauhati and Alllahabad. After obtaining a doctorate in English literature under the supervision of Dr. Amaresh Datta, Chief Editor of the ‘encyclopaedia of Indian Literature’, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi, he left civil service in favour of teaching. Right now he is the Principal of S.D. College, Hajo (Assam), and is also engaged in senior research in English literature. Dr. Pathak rendred crtitical Assamese transiation of Shakespeare’s four leading tragedies viz ’Romeo and juliet’, ‘Julius Caeszar’ ‘King Lear’, and ‘Hamlet’. A Profilic writer both in Assamese and English, Dr. Pathak has contributed many scholarly articles in the learned journals. Free-lance journalism has been his most favorite hobby. A collection of his English poems under the title’s coral island, his first attempt at versigication, is under publication. It has been highly acclaimed by the noted critic Dr. C. Paul Verghese in his appreciative ‘Introduction’ to the collection.
