Amitabh: A Personality

‘Amitabh-A Personality’ is a book consisting of 350 pages of 21 chapters. In order to make book informative about Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, 450 photographs related to his life have been used. In this book, an effort has been made to elucidate how an ordinary man leads the society by virtue of his innumerable qualities and becomes an ideal for the society. The book does not only centers around a particular person; rather it’s an effort also to explain that virtues still are important in life.

In the 1st Chapter of the book ‘A Glimpse of Amitabh’s Life’, his constant struggle in his career has been characterized which inspires us to accomplish our duties honestly. Also there is a message that disappointments can never be so strong to deviate us from our path. His father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan used to say, “It is good if you get what you cherish but it is yet better if don’t get it” and so my father Er. A.K. Srivastava says, “You can achieve what you desire but then you will have to work honestly”. In the 2nd Chapter, ‘Amitabh Through Photographs’ is a collection of pictures of his personal and film career. In the 3rd Chapter, ‘Film Career’ his struggle in the film industry, the ups and downs followed by his outstanding success has been enumerated. His film life is a story of long struggles, insult and persistent hard work which establishes that dedication and honesty towards goal is staircase of success. In the 4th Chapter, ‘Politics’ there is a description of his entry in politics due to his close and cordial relations with Nehru-Gandhi family, and his political activities as well. There he had a mixed taste of good and bitter experiences. During his brief political tenure his concern for the people and their well being exhibits his honesty, sensitivity and dedication to his duties. But he was not aware of the complexities of politics as such he felt sad about it and once he said it is cesspool and he is not suitable for the politics. It is because of some politics he was alleged in Bofors, from which he was respectably exonerated by the courts. In the 5th Chapter, ‘Amitabh Bachchan Corporation’ there is an account of his commercial activities, formation of his ambitious ABCL company, its functioning, the financial crisis followed by a successful stronger re-emergence. In the 6th Chapter, ‘Second Inning’ there is a narration of his re-entry to Indian Film Industry after a renunciation of five and half years. It is a saga of his struggle, dedication and success which has glorified him and the world today respects him. In the 7th Chapter, ‘Amitabh with his Directors’, he is shown with his directors who were instrumental for his present success and status. In the 8th Chapter, ‘Ideal Son, Husband, and a Father’ is an account of his numerous virtues of Amitabh as purely a family man in different roles of son, husband and a father. There are also his other human values and qualities which make Amitabh, ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ an admirable person and an enviable personality. It is usually said, “Nothing really is impossible if there is an appetite for success, integrated with honest and dedicated endeavor supported by courage to struggle”. His many awards for his extraordinary acting talent and performance tell a story of his struggle and success in the film industry. These awards have been listed in Chapter 9th, ‘Awards’ of the book.Amitabh Bachchan’s success story first crossed the borders of the Indian Film Industry and then the borders of the country. The whole world today recognizes him for his talent and popularity. And in the recognition many national and international institutions bestowed several honors and awards upon him. Chapter 10th ‘National and International Awards” is a comprehensive lists of such honors and awards. In the 11th Chapter,‘Deadly Accidents (1982, 1986, 2005)’ there is an account of several tragic accidents and fatal disease of his life. As Amitabh is an undisputed ‘Shahanshah’ of film industry, he is a ‘Shahanshah’ of many diseases as well. It was because of the God’s Grace and prayers of millions and millions of his fans that he came out safely every time. In the 12th Chapter, ‘Criticism’ there is a description of several criticisms Amitabh had to bear. He has been charged that his certain films (Zanjeer, Deewar, Kala Patthar, Inquilaab etc) provoked violence in youth. But in fact this allegation is baseless because this is a negative way of thinking and life style because people easily ignored the positive aspects of his characters in these films that he fought honestly for his goals. In the 18th Chapter, ‘Amitabh – A Multifaceted Person’ is an account of his innumerable virtues which have been widely and undisputedly admired and adored. People established close identity with him. Everybody wish to have a son, a husband, a father and a company like him. All this made him exceptionally admirable. In the 19th Chapter, ‘Films of Amitabh’ is an account of his films released, films due to be released and success rate of some of the directors he worked with. Lastly, Indian Corporate World also could not remain uninfluenced by his charismatic personality and popularity. He contributed significantly for the success of some industry houses and institutions who appointed him as their ambassador. In the 20th Chapter, ‘Amitabh – The Unforgettable World Tour’ by Amitabh Bachchan which took place in 2008 has been described along with facts and photographs related to it. In the 21st Chapter, ‘Amitabh through his blog’ contains photographs posted by Amitabh Bachchan on his blog.
