The present work is an abridged version of the author’s Doctorate thesis submitted to Manipur University in 2013. The book elaborately deals with the British contact with the Northeast tribes and administration of the Lushai Hills, known now as Mizoram. It is a descriptive study of the various impacts of the Colonial rule which results are felt till today. Though the British rule ended in 1947, the social, cultural, economic, political and religious changes in this Indo-Myanmar border state did not end there. The modern culture of the Mizo tribes is to some extent, the by-product of Colonial rule, where Christianity played a great role. The factors, processes and events as well as effects of these changes during the period from 1890-1947 are examined in details here.
